A pared down Thanksgiving

sweet potatoes with marshmallows

Well, it looks like we will be staying home for Thanksgiving.

But that doesn’t mean we have to give up our favorite foods.

In my case, I will still do stuffing, gravy, cranberries, sweet potatoes, and green beans. My favorite stuff! I will probably just do chicken for the meat.

I guess its technically called dressing if you are not actually putting it in the bird, right? Technicality…

For the cranberries, just use the recipe on the bag. Its essentially making simple syrup with sugar and water, and simmering the cranberries until they pop. Then you mash them with a wooden spoon. It thickens up as it cools.

The sweet potatoes are simple too. Just peel, cut, and boil the sweet potatoes. Then mash with butter and whip until smooth. Put them in a baking dish and top with marshmallows. Cook in a 350 oven until marshmallows are toasted.

Yum. Those are the things I look forward to.

What about you? What are your favorite dishes? Are you going to make them anyway? You should.

What ever you decide to do, be safe. Do what they are recommending. Stay within your safe pod this year.

I have a small ebook from this site, which really helps get everything sorted for occasions and family dinners. You included some really great tips and recipes for memorable family occasions, even though guests are currently limited and social distancing is a must.

All of that and more is inside your member’s area. I hope you have a nice holiday, despite our current condition.
