Christmas Cookies

Tis the season for massive cookie baking.

One of the favorites around here is potato chip cookies.

And almond crescents – everyone wants those too. Those are light since they are essentially the same batter as the butter cookies. And of course there’s the butter cookies too.

I always used food coloring and made the Christmas trees green, and the little wreaths red. Actually they were more pink… But with all the talk about food dyes, now I use red and green sugars or sprinkles.

Funny story – When my daughter was younger, we were having a Halloween party. I did not know that food coloring does not wash off. I put some green food coloring in some makeup and spread it all over my face. We had great fun… until I went to try to wash it off! What was worse? I had to be at a government meeting the next morning in North Carolina. Talk about a panic! I had to scrub with nail polish remover. Horrible!

Anyway – back to the cookies…

To think when I was in my 20s, I spent 3 days making cookies. I would make, decorate, and box up 40 dozen. They were gone by Christmas.

What kinds of cookies will you be making?

You know, they freeze well too. You can have cookies well into January..
