What happens when you’re driving home, you’re tired, and you have nothing planned for dinner?

I start mentally mapping out every fast food joint between where I’m at and home. Most of which I don’t want to eat. UGH! Do you do that too?

Tonight, I had something planned. The pizza joint nearby that has 2 slices for $5 was tempting, but I chose to go home and eat what I had planned – and it was really good!

I had an olive, bbq cheeseburger on garlic bread, baked beans, and a salad with green leaf lettuce, tomato, onion, and hard boiled egg. Yum!

It takes a little planning, and a little discipline, but its so worth it!

I have a standard basic list of things that I keep in the house all of the time –

  • Chicken breasts
  • Pork chops
  • Hamburger patties
  • Tortillas
  • Salsa
  • Refried beans
  • Black beans
  • Egg noodles
  • Rice
  • Pastas
  • Petite diced tomatoes
  • Tomato paste
  • Tuna
  • American cheese
  • Shredded Cheddar and Mozeralla cheeses
  • Eggs
  • Lettuce
  • Tomatoes
  • Onions
  • Broccoli
  • Green beans
  • Potatoes
  • Kaiser rolls in the freezer
  • French mini loaves cut into 5 inch pieces and frozen

With this list I can make any number of fast dinners. Hit the member area for tons of fast recipes.

When I come home from the grocery store, I wrap each breast portion and each pork chop in a sandwich bag, then put them into freezer bags, Then I can grab just what I need without having to struggle with a big package of frozen meat that won’t come apart. Easier on the brain to plan, easier to cook, and much less waste.

Plan your dinner the night before and take the meat out of the freezer and put it in the fridge. Then when you’re driving home you know you have something thawed that you need to cook. Since you don’t want to waste food, you’ll be less likely to pull into the drive thru.

And you know the food will be better than most fast foods.

Oh, and you’ll lose weight and have more energy.
