As much as I hate the thought of slathering myself with sunscreen full of chemicals, it really is a necessary evil if you’re going to be out in the sun for an extended period of time. They say that one of the keys for avoiding skin cancer is not burning. But, if you’ve overdone it and gotten burned, here are some things that will help –

Apply yogurt or green tea (freshly brewed and cooled) or aloe vera gel. I’ve heard that vinegar works, it doesn’t.

Get plenty of anti-oxidants to speed healing.

Make sure to stay well hydrated – drink plenty of water.

Keep your skin moist. Apply a good lotion after every shower before you leave the moist bathroom.

They say that eating plenty cantaloupe will help protect you from sunburn from the inside out. This melon contains lots of beta-carotene (orange color), and melons contain silicon which stimulates collagen production for healthy bones and great looking skin.

Watermelon is great for keeping your entire body hydrated.

So cool off with some juicy fruits this summer. Yum!

My friend came back from the coast with a serious case of sunburn. She called me and I shared your tips aling with a few of my own. I do like the yoghurt tip, and I usually keep a bottle of aloe-vera gel in the fridge over the summer. Another tip that works is to apply cold tea which has soothing tannin, or a chamomile infusion which does relieve damaged skin. I had a chamomile cream years ago which was very good on minor burns. I will tell her about the cantaloupe melon. Thanks again Carole.
