Surviving the Holidays

Christmas girls

Life can get pretty crazy through the holidays. It can get totally out of control if you let it.

It is so important to keep up with your rituals so you’re doing the work while its still easy. Strategically spending 15-30 minutes a day – even when you don’t feel like it, will save you.

Eat Well

You need your energy. You also need proper nutrition more than ever during crazy times.

I do a lot of simple 3 course dinners.

Pick a meat – Season and saute’ chicken breast, pork chop, steak, fish…

Pick a side – Baked potato, baked sweet potato, buttered noodles, rice, beans, baked french fries…

Pick a vegetable – Green beans, steamed broccoli, tossed salad, steamed carrots, roasted asparagus…

Keep it simple. Use seasonings, or quick sauces to keep things tasting great.

Do your kitchen clean up every night. No going to bed until you do. That is one rule I have lived with for many years. Hey, I’m like you. I don’t feel like it most nights. Tough. Did you have 15 minutes on Facebook or Netflix?

Just think about what you’d have to deal with tomorrow if you don’t…

Clean your bathroom while you’re in it.

After your shower, squeegee or wipe it down. Sometimes I’ll use Method Daily shower spray instead. Quick toilet clean. Wipe out the sink. Quick check of the mirror and I’m out of there. Keep a roll of paper towels, toilet cleaner, tub cleaner, and glass cleaner in the bathroom to make it easy to do.

Quick Dust

A couple times a week, a quick once over with a feather duster will keep things looking good.

You’ll still want to sweep or vacuum the floor a couple times during the week. Spot clean or wash as needed.

Bedtime Rituals

Turn off all your screens and do your bedtime ritual. In my case, I do my shower at night. It warms and relaxes me (plus, my sheets stay cleaner.) I’ll read a little, or journal, say my prayers, and lights out.

Try to get 7 hours of sleep a night. You will be far more productive when you do.

Remember That Its all Mental

Do everything with gratitude and love. You’ll be amazed at how much easier it all becomes.

Oh, speaking of habits – Members, get in the habit of logging in. There is always new stuff popping up!

LOVE this list. I am the worst at cleaning the bathroom – can stay on top of the kitchen but the bathroom that just gets a wipe here and there. And love the staying positive by adding gratitude. Have a great festive season.
