As I’m healing and getting ready to get on with my life, I can’t help but get excited about getting a new place and fixing things, and getting the rooms painted, and …
While most people want move in ready, I want to get in and get my hands dirty and make it my own. And while I may not physically be up to doing as much as I used to, I still want to push myself to do it. I love taking something bad (well, not too bad…) and making it into something beautiful. I also love physical work. I know, I’m weird.
When there is something you love, you will be motivated – no matter how tired you are.
What’s to love about dieting?
That’s one mistake people make when dieting. Everyone focuses on the ‘suffering’. That’s not very motivating.
How about focusing on eating food that really tastes good and leaves you feeling good, or
How great you’re going to look, or
How much energy you’re going to have, or
How great life will be when you actually feel good, or – well you get the idea.
Sometimes its doing things because it benefits those you love.
You may not want to eat healthy, but your child might be suffering, getting sick a lot, missing school, putting on weight, getting made fun of…. Eating healthier would benefit them. You do it for them.
You walk the dog because you love it and want it to be healthy and live a long healthy life. Its good for you too. It keeps you in shape, helps you lose weight, cuts your stress, helps you meet your neighbors…
How about making money?
Not many of us are in love with money for the sake of money. Its what the money can do for you – right? Working just to make money for the sake of money is not very motivating. Making money just to pay the bills isn’t very motivating either. But making money so that you can do something you really want to do – that’s a whole different ballgame.
Find an outcome that you love for any goal and focus on that. You’ll find that you can plow through almost any obstacle to reach it when you’re driven by love.
