Dopamine – comes from accomplishing something. Its not the task, but the outcome that feels good.
- Clean house
- Paint a room
- Rake leaves
- Wash the car
- Winterize the car
- Finish the yard work
- Wash the windows
- Make a sale
- Make progress towards a goal
Confidence triggers serotonin. A lot of people will tell you to journal, meditate, use affirmations… While those things might help a little, true confidence comes from doing something until you master it. The more you do it, the better you get, the more confident you feel.
- Get good at something.
Oxytocin is the hugging, cuddling, petting, hormone.
- Hug your spouse
- Hug your kids
- Pet your dog/cat
- Get or give a massage
- Self massage works too
- Have sex
Endorphins are feel good hormones that are released in response to a number of things. Runner’s high is one. In the case of strenuous exercise or extreme challenge, endorphins flood you with a rush. They are also released to a lesser degree by laughter and eating chocolate.
