According to the Wall Street Journal, there are 5 types of house cleaners –

Influential consumers “cleaning routinists” – they are about 21% of the market. They perform cleaning tasks an average of 18 times a week for a total of five hours, the company says. “They really enjoy the process,” says Beth Simermeyer, vice president of S.C. Johnson’s North America home-cleaning business. “It’s cathartic.”

Slightly more consumers, or 24%, are “quick and convenient” cleaners, who spend about 4 1/2 hours a week cleaning, Ms. Simermeyer says.

The “Cleaning is Nirvana” group, about 19% of consumers, finds joy in cleaning but is less process-oriented than the routinists, spending only about 4 hours and 18 minutes a week to clean.

“Time-pressured appearance cleaners,” or 15% of consumers, spend three hours a week on “drive by” cleaning—enough to make the home look good—but don’t enjoy it.

The remaining 21% are “cleaning avoiders”: They “really don’t want to clean” and spend only about 2½ hours each week on it, Ms. Simermeyer says.

Where do you fit in?

I like to do a drive by, and still get the results of the “cleaning routinists”.

How do you do that?

That’s why I wrote Secret Confessions of a Clean Freak. I don’t have the time or the tolerance for all that scrubbing, but I like my home to be really clean.

If that’s you – get your copy. (or open it up and use it if you already have it!)

Here in the Midwest, it may not look like it yet, but it will be warm soon. You’re going to want to get out of the house and play. Take advantage of this cold weather and get your spring cleaning done!
