21 things to do when the weather outside is frightful

2 feet of snowMuch of the country is being affected by horrible weather. Our prayers go out to you on the east coast. Stay in and stay safe!

There are a lot of things you can do while you’re stuck inside –

1. Bake cookies. Then, instead of eating them all, put them in the freezer so you have great homemade cookies for the next few weeks. I still have a few Potato Chip cookies in the freezer. Just don’t tell my daughter or my sister 😉

You can also bake banana bread or pumpkin bread and freeze it, but I’m doubting that you happen to have pumpkin or over ripe bananas on hand.

2. Make a dinner that you wouldn’t normally make because it takes too much time. Things like stuffed peppers, meatloaf, roast chicken, beef or pork roast.

3. Try a new recipe.

4. Exercise. Dancing counts! Get your kids involved.

5. Play cards. My daughter likes to sit and play gin rummy on nasty days.

6. Play Monopoly or Scrabble.

7. Clean out a closet.

8. Do some spring cleaning. I start my spring cleaning when the Christmas decorations come down. I start washing all of the knick-knacks and washing and polishing all of the wood. I’ll pick a room and wash the walls.

9. This weather is perfect timing for getting your tax stuff together…

10. Color. When is the last time you sat down and colored with your kids? Not only will your kids love it, but its very relaxing.

11. Have your kids act out a scene from their favorite movie for you. You can Skype with grandparents and involve them too. Or make a video to share.

12. Learn to do something new. There are so many videos and books available now without ever having to leave home. A couple of years ago, I learned how to Shuffle.

13. Fix things that have been piling up. Buttons to be sewn on and stuff like that.

14. Take old magazines and catalogs and make dream boards.

15. Revise your goal list. You have a goal list, don’t you?

16. Start a gratitude journal.

17. Write a letter.

18. Put all the birthdays on this year’s calendar.

19. Plan a decorating project.

20. Plan a garden.

21. Plan for the fun things you will do this summer.

Do you have any other ideas?
